Planning a trip to Yellowstone! May 1st is an important date!
If you're thinking about planning a trip to Yellowstone, May 1st is a VERY IMPORTANT date! May 1st is the first date to make reservations for the following year. YNP is a very popular and busy vacation destination. The best rooms and locations sell out fast. You need to be prepared - especially if you are traveling with a large family like the Saladin 7!
Since we are planning on returning to YNP in 2020, I was on the phone dialing exactly at 9:00 am EDT. My parents are coming along on the trip this time so planning for nine took a little more time. Fortunately, we hit the jackpot and were able to reserve two very hard to attain rooms at the Old Faithful Inn. The Old House is an amazing place to stay. We secured one of only two available rooms with three queen bed. It also overlooks like the deck area and has great views of the basin. It does not have a bathroom though and we'll have to use the community bath, but we did that last time with no problem. My parents wanted a bathroom in their room. I nabbed an Old House room with two queen beds and bath for them - not many of those available either, especially in July. The agent said that we definitely hit the jackpot. I am thrilled.
We'll stay two days at Old Faithful Inn and then another three days at Canyon Lodge. I was able to get two Western Cabins at Canyon. This will be a great place to get some quality hiking in for some picturesque views like the one above.
The picture below is from Observation Point by Old Faithful Inn. We were super lucky to see Castle Geyser and Grand Geyser erupt simultaneously. What a treat!
